Blood Yellow...Because the stories only just begun...

Ashley is joining as today and answering some questions about The Blood series and shares little tidbits of herself.

Hi Ashley and Welcome to Deb's Crazy Obsession. You released the second book in your paranormal series this summer, tell us a bit about the Blood series!
Hey there Deb! A bit about the Blood Series huh, well I'll try to keep it short and sweet. Key word - try!

I came up with the concept of the Algula world one day when I was researching my own heritage with my aunt. She and I were reading the Sherrilyn Kenyon novels and talking about where our ancestors came from when it hit me ... Arabic Vampires!

This was the birth of Nikole and later Zayn, Derrik, Dominic, Leigh and Haydar.

What inspired you to write about vampires? And with an arabic theme of all things, where did you find inspiration for that?
*Points up above* In addition to my own heritage I also have gotten tired of the 'same ole same ole' in books, specifically paranormal. So what I wanted to do was come up with a story that wasn't like any you have read before and bring 'vampires' back to their roots.

Evil! My books consist of good guys and bad guys - But what you will also notice, my 'good guys' are not 'good.' They are after all Vampires, and what do Vampires do, they kill. End of story.

I also twist things up by not adding useless and crazy farfetched drama to the story but keep the drama inside the 'families.' All of us know our families can cause craziness; we don't need magical beings to add to that. So the Characters troubles are something we can all relate to.

In addition, I have always wanted to learn Arabic and using the arabic words, phrases and names has given me a reason to dive into it. I also think it adds some authenticity to the series.

What kind of research did you do before you started writing?
First, I looked up Lebanon and it's cities. I wanted to have a city that was similar to Colorado Springs and that took like a week to find the right place. I also wanted a city in the mountains because that's where my families tribe was moved to in 646 A.D. during the Muslim invasion of Lebanon.

What is your favorite line, passage and/or chapter from this series?

Favorite line would be from Nikole "I'm not just a Princess, I'm a Warrior." Next would be "Bow your head little ohkt, it's time." That one is from Zayn. They were about to say their last goodbye to a beloved member of their "team" (can't give away too many secrets.)

For how long have you been writing and have you always known you wanted to be a writer?
I've been writing since I was a youngin, in junior high. I knew I wanted to do something in writing. Originally i wanted to be a Lawyer and I loved the idea of writings briefs (I know I'm a little crazy.) But as my years ticked by writing was something that called to me and forced itself on me.

First or last sentence, which is harder to write?
The middle! When I write I sit down, close my eyes and let it flow. I plan nothing. So the first and last sentence are pretty easy, they just are. It's the middle that is a pain in the butt!

What do you do when you’re not writing or doing anything book related?
When I'm not writing, or reading, I'm hanging out with my Hubby and our pups or my besties. I love my family more than anything (and my friends are a part of my family!) Spending time with my husband and the ones I love gives me more pleasure than anything else.

Tell us 5 random facts about yourself.
- I'm a 2nd Degree Decided Black belt in the American Taekwondo Association - I achieved this in the 90's.
- I have to do everything in two's. (IDK WHY!)
- I'm scared of mirrors
- I hate makeup
- I love reading a good book on my Kindle, when its raining, curled up in a sweater and pants during the winter. Throw in a fireplace and I'm in heaven!
