Goodreads Synopsis:
17-year-old Lila has two secrets she’s prepared to take to the grave. The first is that she can move things just by looking at them. The second is that she’s been in love with her brother’s best friend, Alex, since forever.

After a mugging exposes her unique ability, Lila decides to run to the only people she can trust—her brother and Alex. They live in Southern California where they work for a secret organization called The Unit, and Lila discovers that the two of them are hunting down the men who murdered her mother five years before. And that they’ve found them.

In a world where nothing and no one is quite as they seem, Lila quickly realizes that she is not alone—there are others out there just like her—people with special powers—and her mother’s killer is one of them…

What I thought:
Again, this has been in my bookshelf for quite some time. And it shouldn't have! The blurb made it interesting enough to buy but apparently not interesting enough to read immediately, which is a shame. This books blew my expectations big time!

I love how Lila's abilities is a part of her and not this big weird thing that's somehow talked about in a different sense than she is. It's as natural as breathing, for her and for me. She has superpowers, so what? Completely normal. She's an all around very lovable character, she has her strengths and her flaws. She stubborn to the point where it puts her in danger but she's strong enough to handle it. Also, she's in love with her brother's best friend, which could either be the best thing that's ever happened to her or it could end in complete devastation.

Let me just say, I sooo get why she love him. He has everything you could ever want in a guy except one thing. Flaws. I wouldn't want a completely perfect boyfriend, wouldn't that make me feel inferior in every way? Anyhow, while reading, I can completely overlook that. I mean, he's gorgeous. And awesome. See my point? I totally get why she loves him.

This book has an intriguing plot, a little bit of love, a whole lot of action and superawesome humans, what's not to love?

As a completely irrelevant side note, can I just say that that both the cover and Sarah are gorgeous? No? Oh, okay. Did it anyway.

My rating:
Four

About the author:
Having spent most of her life in London, Sarah quit her job in the non profit sector in 2009 and took off on a round the world trip with her husband and princess-obsessed daughter on a mission to find a new place to call home. After several months in India, Singapore, Australia and the US, they settled in Bali where Sarah now spends her days writing by the pool and trying to machete open coconuts without severing a limb.

She finished her first novel, Hunting Lila, just before they left the UK, wrote the sequel on the beach in India and had signed a two book deal with Simon & Schuster by the time they had reached Bali.

A third book, Fated, about a teenage demon slayer, was published in January 2012.

The Sound, a thriller romance set in Nantucket, was published in August 2013. She has a further three thrillers due for release in the next few years.
