Top Ten Tuesday #18: Covers I Wish I Could Redesign

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly Top Ten list hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

So today we're doing  Top Ten Covers I Wish I Could Redesign. These aren't necessarily ugly covers but could be covers that doesn't fit the content of the book. Or ugly covers. They could be ugly covers. I am one of those people who do judge a book by it's cover and when browsing through catalogs or bookshelves I never stop and pick up or read more about those that don't catch my attention. And which books do catch my attention? Those with pretty covers. Shame on me but that's how my petty brain works.

So, without further ado, here's ten covers I wish I (or someone who has a bit more creativity than a giraffe, the giraffe being me) could redesign. Well, depending on how you look at it there could be more than ten or less than ten. anyway, here they are.

The Deep In Your Veins series by Suzanne Wright - Sam is described as a homocidal bitch at multiple occasions in the book. The girl on the cover doesn't really picture that, does she? And Jared looks more like a zombie than he does vampire.

The Fallen Star series by Jessica Sorensen -  I think I just a problem with computer generated humans in general because these freak me out.

The Violet Eden Chapters by Jessica Shirvington - The covers for this series is so boring! The fifth book follows the same theme and they say absolutely nothing about anything. How am I supposed to be intrigued by covers like this? I love the books but the covers? Ugh...

The Mythos Academy series by Jennifer Estep - I don't know what it is about these but No. 2 and 4 ,especially, bug me. They're just a bit too messy and No. 4 just creep me out.

The Fallen by Celia Thomson - This cover just doesn't do it for me.

Heaven and Hell - This is one of those not-ugly covers but as far as I can remember a lake or the ocean isn't even mentioned but it makes the cover why?

Sentinel by Jennifer L. Armentrout - Putting Sentinel on this list hurts but the four previous books has been so, so pretty. They all share the theme with the smoke but the previous ones has formed colorful flowers. This is just too simple and boring.

  1. I've heard great things about a lot of the books on your list, but I have to admit, their covers aren't appealing to me! It shows you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but I think we all do!

  2. I LOVED every single one of these books, they're so good, but I can't stand the covers. I think that on GR I'm a little bit less concerned with the cover because the blurb is so easily accessible but in a bookstore or library you have to actually stop, pick the book up and turn it around before you can know what it's about. That's where covers really matters for me :)

  3. The Sentinel reminds me too much of Looking for Alaska and the rest of those on your list are just BAD!!! Heaven and Hell just looks SO amateur. And those Jessica Shirvington books look like Glamour Shots or something... just BAD!!

  5. And I didn't even like Looking for Alaska... I know, even if you are a self published author I'm guessing most of us has a Photoshop savvy friend who can help out so not even that's an excuse.
