Maddy's gone off the deep end, at least that's what her family thinks when she handles her med school rejections by moving to the Outer Banks. It doesn't help that she's paying her bills by bartending and is sharing walls with two guys, even if one of them is her childhood best friend.

Her choice of men seems more balanced on the surface—Colin is driven, sexy, and gainfully employed, but she can't help spending her Thursday nights searching for the perfect drink for Lyle, whose music captivates her with its haunting lyrics. Maddy believes everyone has a perfect drink—and finding Lyle's isn't a challenge she's willing to lose.

I am so excited to be part of the Shaken not Stirred blog tour! I have loved some of Alyssa's previous work and I jumped on the chance to get my hands on an early copy of SnS.

My Thoughts:
From the blurb I assumed this would be a "Colin is sweet and reliable but she's secretly pining for Lyle and there'll be whole lot of drama"- kind of story. I was soooo wrong. This is an incredibly sweet and realistic love story but it's surprisingly drama free. I was reading this and the whole time I was thinking "When will the bomb drop", which is never. Maddy and Colin have their issues of course, they're a couple after all, but it's nothing huge.

While the story didn't go where I thought it would I loved Maddy! Her life came to an unexpected halt and now she has no idea where she want's it to go and I think that's one thing so many of us can relate to. I know that whey I graduated from college I had no idea what I was going to do with my life. She's dealing with her own insecurities while her parents know exactly what they want for her, and it takes guts to stand up to parents like that. She's strong and independent and would like to keep it that way, which I respect her greatly for!

Colin is sweet and caring and described as sexy, though I could never see that. He is you standard reliable guy that usually takes the backseat to every other guy in books today, so yay him I guess for breaking through that stereotype. Theres not much else to him, he's somewhat annoying at times and while I like him and Maddy together for some reasons and not for others I know I would never put up with him.

This book features a "normal" relationship without all the drama and angst we usually see in NA today, and I can really see the appeal in that and I would like to see more of that in the future of the genre but since it wasn't what I expected and not what I was in the mood for I felt somewhat let down by Shaken not Stirred. But I think that if I reread it at a later date when a sweet story is all I want I'm going to feel differently about it and it'll be more to my liking!
