The Birthday Through Birthday Challenge is live!

Today's my birthday (Turning 22, yay!) and I feel like a wreck after the birthday party last night. What better way to cure a hangover than getting excited for a new challenge?!

Have you ever felt like you’re shying away from a category/genre of books that you do want to read? You want to read them but you just can’t get to it for a bunch of different reasons? They scare you, you don’t know if it’s your thing? Whatever it is, join the BtB challenge and the adventure of becoming a bigger reader!

I want to be able to say I've read the classics, to say that I have read Anna Karenina, Pride and Prejudice, To Kill a Mockingbird and a lot of other big titles. I really do want that, but classics scare me to death. I mean, they’re classics for a reason and have this huge literary value and it’s like you’re supposed to love them. Not to mention most of them were written ages ago in an English I can barely read.

To get off my butt and actually do it I'm going to challenge myself and read 20 classics over the next year and I would love it if you joined me!

Your vice doesn't necessarily have to be classics, just choose a category/genre outside your comfort zone. It could be anything; biographies, based on a true story, crime, horror, paranormal, political fiction. Whatever you don’t normally read but want to really give a try and maybe grow to love. Don’t chose a category that you kinda like and want to read more of, choose one that is out of you comfort zone! Then choose a goal of how many books you want to read in that category.

At the end of the challenge there’ll be a big giveaway!

You can find all the info about the challenge here or below.

Rules

> The challenge will run from December 1st, 2013 to December 1st,2014.
> Each month will have it’s own linky sign-up where you can share your reviews or posts about your progress. You do not have to review the books you read to participate but only those who have reviewed at least one book will be able to participate in the end of challenge giveaway. Goodreads/Shelfari/LibraryThing is a good way to keep track of the books you haven’t reviewed.
>  Books read in this challenge must be full length, a collection of short stories is okay as long as the collection is set in one book (not multiple small ones) and equals a full length novel in length. A collection of short stories counts as one (1) book.
> Enter the linky below with a link to a post where you state your category, do not make the category too unspecified. Simply YA or Adult does not qualify as an acceptable category.
> Rereads are not allowed. The purpose of this challenge is to push your boundaries, not return to books you know are safe.
> It doesn’t matter whether it’s a series or a stand-alone book.
> All formats are allowed.
> If you are participating, grab the button below and post it on your blog along with the category and goal you chose (this is a goal, it’s not set in stone and is bound to change). Please include the link back to this page so others will be able to participate as well.
> If you are participating, put the sign-up link to your blog post (about the challenge) directly into the linky below. Sign-ups will be open until November 15, 2014.
> You do not have to list which books you will read in advance, you don’t even have to know all of the books you aim to read. Read as many as you want and whenever you want, as long as you have fun!
> Information about the giveaway will be available in November 2014.
